Sycamore GEAR is a parent-led support and advocacy group for gifted children and their families in Sycamore Community Schools (located near Cincinnati, Ohio).
GEAR believes that all children should have the opportunity to learn to their potential, and we are dedicated to working to ensure that appropriate educational opportunities are available throughout each child's school experience.
GEAR believes that informed families make effective advocates at the local, state and national levels, and we strive to provide current information through programs, the GEAR mailing list, and this website.
Edward Amend, Psy.D., presented "Outsmart Your Smart Child: Practical Strategies for Parenting Gifted Kids" to a packed house on Oct. 20 at Sycamore Junior High School.

Dr. Edward Amend presented a talk about parenting gifted children to an audience of 125 on October 20 at Sycamore Jr. High School, Blue Ash, Ohio. The event was sponsored by Sycamore GEAR (info@sycamoregear.org).
Dr. Amend is a clinical psychologist and nationally recognized expert on giftedness. He has co-authored two award-winning books: "A Parent’s Guide to Gifted Children" and "Misdiagnosis and Dual Diagnoses of Gifted Children and Adults," as well as numerous articles. He maintains a private practice in Lexington, Kentucky, with a satellite office in Blue Ash, Ohio.
